Junior Flames towering striker Precious Msosa scored twice to hand Zomba United a comfortable 3-1 home win over Mangochi Police in the Southern Region Football League (SRFL) Premier Division.

Msosa, whose late introduction added spark in the Junior Flames 1-2 loss to their Zambia counterparts at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday, was joined on United score sheet by Lawrence Kandeya.

Away when drawing 2-2 with Machinga ADD on Saturday, it was Patrick Luhanga and Christopher Chisasa who scored a goal each. United coach Noel Gobede is impressed with their start in the second-tier league.

“Teams are very prepared against us, but we will fight up to the end without fear. We will have a wonderful season. We are targeting success in every game, aiming at the top flight league,” said Gobede on Sunday.

Evirom, who are unbeaten this season, defeated Chitakale 1-0 to stay top.

Meanwhile, Dedza Young Soccer enhanced their Super League promotion ambitions when they registered two wins at the weekend to displace Mchinji Boma Stars from the Chipiku Premier Division throne.

Making the most of home ground advantage, Dedza, who have 26 points from 11 games, blasted aside Mau Mau 4-2 on Saturday through goals from 2014 Carlsberg Cup top scorer Imran Ibrahim, Dave Balaka and Willard Dickson’s brace.

“We have produced Carlsberg Cup top scorer, finished in the quarter-final. We are now top of the league,” said Pofela yesterday.

Placed second on 25 points from 13 games are Support Battalion, who whipped Wimbe United 3-1 on Saturday.
